The Cervantes Institute appointed José María de Miguel Gaytán and David Ruiz López-Prisuelos as directors of its centers in Beirut and Salvador de Bahia, respectively, on Tuesday.
The appointments were made by the director of the Cervantes Institute, Luis García Montero, at the proposal of the secretary general, Carmen Noguero, with the approval of the Secretary of State for Ibero-America and the Caribbean and Spanish in the World and president of the Board of Directors, Susana Sumelzo, and after consulting with the Board of Directors.
José María de Miguel Gaytán de Ayala (Zaragoza, 1981) holds a degree in Economics from the University of Zaragoza and a master’s degree in Management of Cultural Institutions and Entities from the University of Barcelona.
He has worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers as a team leader and, since 2009, at the Cervantes Institute, in the Leeds branch, which is part of the Manchester center, and in the centers in New Delhi and London as an administrator.
David Ruiz López-Prisuelos (Madrid, 1982) holds a degree in Pedagogy from the Complutense University of Madrid. Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous courses, seminars, and workshops related to cultural and development cooperation.
Since 2006, he has worked at the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) as head of the Culture Department at the Spanish Cooperation Training Center in Antigua, Guatemala, and as director of the Spanish cultural centers in Nicaragua, Guatemala, Peru, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.
