Tomorrow, Wednesday at 7 p.m., Casa Árabe and Ediciones del Oriente y del Mediterráneo will present an anthology of Poems against the genocide in Gaza. Free admission until capacity is full. In Spanish and Arabic, with simultaneous interpretation.
These poems are written in recent months by thirty young Palestinian poets, women and men, as the massacre in the Gaza Strip and the violent expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank continue. The event will be attended by four of these poets and the translator of the work, Ignacio Gutiérrez de Terán.
“How painful it is to compose an anthology like this. Palestine, Gaza in a brutal way and before the helpless gaze of half the world, the West Bank, surreptitiously through the unforgiving expansion of settlers, continues to suffer an eradication campaign. An unforgiving aggression that has been going on for more than 75 years. The campaign of physical and cultural extermination undertaken by a precise Zionist project in its brutality has entered a moment of ‘final solution’ that, we thought, had been left behind in the annals of the last century”, text taken from the introduction of Ignacio Gutiérrez de Terán.
Participating in the meeting are the poets Mona Musaddar, Doha Al Kahlut, Fatena al Ghurra and Mohamed Wadah Abujami, who will recite a selection of poems, and Ignacio Gutiérrez de Terán. They will read in Spanish Irene Maquieira, Covadonga Murias, José F. Ramos and Diego Vara. Presents Karim Hauser, coordinator of Cultura de Casa Árabe.
The event is the result of collaboration between the Autonomous University of Madrid, Amnesty International-Madrid, the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies (CEARC) and the Spanish Society of Teachers of Arabic Language (SEDLA). The event will be broadcast live on our YouTube channel.
