Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez participated this Wednesday in Brussels in an informal leaders’ dinner with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, within the framework of the first EU-Egypt Summit.
During the meeting, according to Moncloa, the leaders analyzed the situation in the Middle East, thanking Egypt for its role in negotiating the Gaza agreement reached last week, and examined the next steps for the implementation of that agreement.
In addition, they reviewed the security situation in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea and economic relations between Egypt and the European Union in light of the Strategic and Comprehensive Partnership launched between the two parties last year. The meeting was chaired by the President of the European Council, António Costa, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, representing the EU.
