Nexobús at its 25th Anniversary: Witnesses and Protagonists of the Evolution of Transport

The President of Confebus opened the ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of Nexobús with a message of gratitude and recognition for the specialized media outlet’s dedication, commitment, and service to the sector.

Nexobús celebrated 25 years of history and commitment to passenger road transport in a commemorative event that brought together representatives from the transport, communications, and mobility sectors. The gathering, held in Madrid, paid tribute to the remarkable journey of a publication that, since its foundation in 2000, has accompanied every milestone, transformation, and challenge in collective transport.

The event featured speeches by Rafael Barbadillo, President of Confebus; David Moneo, Director of IFEMA Movilidad; and Eugenio de Quesada, Director of Nexobús, who also spoke on behalf of Yago González, the new CEO of Grupo Nexo, now part of the Prestomedia Group.

This distinguished panel symbolized the unity of the key stakeholders in the passenger transport industry—both public and private—and their shared support for specialized communication as a tool for cohesion and progress.

“Nexobús Has Listened and Given a Voice to Everyone”

Rafael Barbadillo, President of Confebus, opened the ceremony with a heartfelt address of appreciation to Nexobús and its team, underlining its role as an informative voice and meeting point for the passenger transport sector.

“It is a true honour to be here with you, celebrating 25 years of Nexobús,” began Barbadillo, visibly moved. He recalled that “the very first issue of Nexobús coincided with an edition of FIAA, a quarter of a century ago,” emphasizing that “these have been 25 years of telling the story of our sector—accompanying every change, every advancement, and every challenge.”

Barbadillo publicly acknowledged the work of the group’s founders, Eugenio de Quesada and Carlos Ortiz, “friends for many years and the masterminds behind an idea that has grown with passion, commitment, and a deep sense of service.” He extended his congratulations to the entire Grupo Nexo team—its photographers, writers, and collaborators—for keeping the spirit of the publication alive through time.

“You have been more than a media outlet,” he stated. “You have known how to listen and give a voice to everyone—companies, manufacturers, public authorities, and workers alike—and you have helped our stories reach further and be better understood.”

Commitment, Professionalism, and Public Service

The Confebus president also praised the resilience of specialized journalism in times of digital transformation:
“In a world where information competes for mere seconds of attention, maintaining an independent, high-quality, and distinctive publication for 25 years is a true achievement. It speaks of perseverance, professionalism, and passion for the craft,” he affirmed.

Barbadillo went on to highlight the vital role of passenger transport as an essential public service:
“It creates jobs, connects territories, and ensures sustainable mobility for millions of people. It is also a cornerstone of our country’s main industry: tourism.”

He further commended Nexobús for its ability to unite and bring cohesion to the sector, describing it as a bridge between companies, associations, institutions, and professionals.
“You have succeeded in weaving the sector together—and in such a diverse field as ours, that is an achievement worth celebrating,” he remarked.

Barbadillo concluded his speech with a symbolic toast:
“Let us raise our glasses to the past that brought us here, to the present we celebrate together today, and to the future filled with new roads to travel. Congratulations, Nexobús—here’s to many more years, and thank you all.”

A Celebration to Remember

The event, both warm and professional in tone, brought together executives, institutional representatives, and leading figures from the passenger transport sector, who joined the Nexobús team in marking this milestone.
