The Teatro Español invites reflection on what surrounds us with ‘Esencia’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Until next 9 November, the Teatro Español de Madrid (Plaza Santa Ana, calle del Príncipe, 25) premieres Esencia (Essence), one of the most enigmatic works by the madrilenian García May, in which the spectator is invited to reflect on our certainties and the reality that surrounds them.

Actors Juan Echanove and Joaquin Climent play Pierre and Cecil, two old friends who meet again after a decade. Through a conversation full of memories, confidences and silences, they both wait for the arrival of a mysterious author who never appears or, perhaps, has been present since the beginning. In this ambiguous space, between the tangible and the imagined, Esencia builds a maze in which certainty is shaken and everything is questioned.

With this work, Ignacio García May writes one of his most enigmatic and revealing works: a journey through memory, perception and time that questions the bases of what we understand by reality. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
