<h6><strong>Eduardo González</strong></h6> <h4><strong>The new UAE ambassador to Spain, Saleh Ahmad Salem Alzaraim Alsuwaidi, presented the formal copies of his Credentials to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.</strong></h4> Born in December 1974 in Dubai, Saleh Ahmad Salem Alsuwaidi previously served as ambassador to Brazil and is fluent in Arabic and English. The new ambassador assumes the leadership of the mission, replacing the Chargé d'Affaires, Ibrahim ALI Saeed Alsharhan Alnuaimi. The last Emirati ambassador to Spain was Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi, who left the post in 2024 to be appointed Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. A graduate in Political Science and Economics, he began his diplomatic career in 1998 at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He served at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in New Delhi from 2000 to 2003, at the Department of European, American, and Oceanian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2004, and as Head of Political, Consular, and Economic Affairs at the Embassy in Berlin from 2004 to 2009. He also served as Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Affairs and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2009 to 2013, First Consul General in São Paulo from October 2013 to December 2016, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to New Zealand, and Non-Resident Ambassador to Fiji, Tuvalu, and the Kingdom of Tonga from 2017 to March 2020, and Ambassador to Brazil since September 2020.
