The Diplomat

The Hotel Meliá Princesa in Madrid was once again the stage for the meeting entitled Denmark and the geopolitics of Greenland, organized by The Diplomat in Spain, the Association of Foreign Diplomats (ADE) and Hoteles Meliá, by Ricardo Ruiz de la Serna, Professor of Contemporary World History at the international degrees of the CEU-San Pablo University in Madrid.

A large number of ambassadors and diplomats attended this meeting, interested in the current state of affairs concerning the country which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Denmark, and the island whose territory belongs to it, Greenland.

Professor Ruiz de la Serna’s lecture was a real lesson in the current geopolitics that is present all over the world and in the power nuclei that influence now and will influence in the future, both in this part of the world and in its totality.

Given the great attention by diplomats to the words of the professor, after the presentation went to question time, where one after another questions were answered by the speaker showing an exhaustive knowledge of the geopolitical subject and world current.

As we discussed in the last discussion held in July, the role of Turkey and the UN on the international scene, together with the pleasant surprise of a biographer of the Father of the Spanish language, the distinguished writer Miguel de Cervantes, who will talk about his life and his work, will be the topics to be covered by the next meetings, of which the call will be received in due course.

The Diplomat’s Tertulias have been held regularly for years and address different aspects of politics, economy and society in Spain and abroad. Its objective is to offer foreign diplomats different approaches and points of view on aspects of the Spanish and world reality, under the condition of strict confidentiality of what is discussed in the room.
