The Teatro Fernán Gómez.Centro Cultural De la Villa presents in its Girau room the work American Buffalo, directed by Ignasi Vidal and performed by Israel Elejalde, David Lorente and Roberto Hoyo. It will remain on display until 26 October.
This work is undoubtedly one of the greatest works of David Mamet. Premiered in 1975 at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago as an “exhibition” production. After two additional productions, it premiered on Broadway in 1977. He has since received multiple awards and nominations around the world. In 1996 he took to the cinema starring Dustin Hoffman and Dennis Franz.
American Buffalo transports us to the world of Don, the owner of a scrap shop in Chicago, and his attempt to recover a valuable coin that he sold for a fraction of its real value. Together with his young employee Bob and his poker buddy Teach, they embark on a plan to steal the coin back, triggering a series of events full of intrigue, tension and unexpected surprises. The work explores the complex relationships between the characters, as well as universal themes such as greed, friendship and sacrifice.
