Eduardo González

The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, accused Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez this Wednesday of using the situation in Gaza to "cover up his shame" and asserted that, "to remain in power," the head of the executive branch would even make a pact with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"The massacre of civilians must stop in Gaza," because "Palestinian civilians are not terrorists," but "the one bombing Gaza is the Government of Israel, not the people of Israel, whom you have condemned," Feijóo stated in the plenary session of Congress. "Hamas is a terrorist organization that cannot be part of the future of Palestine and that has congratulated Sánchez twice," he continued. According to the PP leader, Sánchez is using Gaza to "cover up his shame" in the face of the corruption cases of which he has been accused. Therefore, he asked the Prime Minister not to give "lessons in humanity." "He also suffered greatly for the Sahrawi people and changed his mind in an afternoon. We know him too well. To stay in power, everyone knows that you would even make a pact with Mr. Netanyahu. Respect the law, respect the people, and I will not allow you to use the deaths in Gaza against Spaniards who do not vote for you," he added. For his part, Sánchez urged the People’s Party to "listen to the United Nations working group," which has described the situation in Gaza as "genocide," or to read the Elcano Royal Institute survey according to which "82% of Spaniards, therefore also PP voters, believe that genocide is being committed." In the same debate, the First Vice President and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, denounced Alberto Núñez Feijóo's "juggling" to avoid talking about "genocide" in Gaza. "But history will judge us, and it will put this government on the side of international law and human rights, and the PP on the side of the cowards who remain silent while thousands of people are murdered in Gaza," she warned.
