According to a press release from Moncloa, Sánchez and Costa analyzed the political, economic, international, and social agenda for the coming months and exchanged perspectives on the most important issues. During the meeting, according to the press release, the Prime Minister stressed the need for the European Union to "act coherently, defending international law in Ukraine and Gaza" and being able to "translate our shared values into action." He also conveyed the importance of addressing the social issues of greatest concern to citizens, such as access to housing, and emphasized, in light of the record number of fires in southern Europe this summer, the urgent need to make decisive progress on the green agenda and invest together in climate security. Finally, they addressed the need for "an open and prosperous Europe," capable of reaching trade agreements, such as Mercosur, and seizing opportunities "for the benefit of European businesses and citizens."
