King Felipe VI will present the Forum Europa Prize to António Costa in Madrid

This award is given in recognition of his "contribution to building a more united, social, and democratic Europe." The presentation of the award coincides with anniversaries that mark milestones in the history of European integration, such as the 25th anniversary of the founding of the New Economy Forum, the 40th anniversary of the accession of Spain and Portugal to the European Union, and the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, the document that laid the foundations for the European integration project. Since its creation in 2003, the New Economy Forum Awards have been awarded to highly relevant international leaders, including former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, presidents of the European Union and the European Commission such as Herman Van Rompuy, José Manuel Barroso, Jean-Claude Juncker, Josep Borrell, Antonio Tajani, Roberta Metsola, as well as presidents and foreign ministers of the Americas and Europe, such as Mauricio Macri, Lula da Silva, Juan Manuel Santos, Michelle Bachelet, Giorgio Napolitano, Felipe Calderón, Cavaco Silva and Angela Merkel.
