Until next August 10, the Teatro Pavón in Madrid (calle de Embajadores, 9) presents the play El dios de la juventud, a double fiction written and directed by Alma Vidal.
Leading the cast of the play actors Marta Poveda, Antonio Hernández Fimia, Natalia Llorente and Nacho Almeida.
“Having completed her most perfect work, Amalia irrevocably commits suicide. It finds that there is no point in continuing to live when all that remains is to age. He knows that he will never be able to write anything better and has decided to be consistent and commit suicide. Before this happens she meets up with Mateo, an idealistic young man who has fallen madly in love with her. Together they will share a train ride”.
This is written by Gonzalo, the real protagonist of this double fiction, El dios de la juventud. A superb and passionate young man who has lost himself trying to finish his work. Obsessed with death, youth and love, he will face a mother who does not understand it, a friend whom he loves as much as he despises, a sister who surpasses his own talent, a world to which he does not belong and above all himself. A Dantesque transit, from a contemporary perspective full of humor, through the hells that torment the new generations.
Four actors build the framework of this double fiction. Playing several characters in a chameleonic way weave the tragic and pathetic crisis that the protagonist of the play is going through. Different narrative layers and theatrical forms intersect in this montage charged with passion, dynamism, poetry and humor. The cry of a generation that has been promised a fictitious and narcissistic success, and that must rediscover the authenticity and unique meaning of its existence.
