After a successful tour of Spain, the humorous play Goteras, in which a young man discovers that his neighbor is himself thirty years older, lands at the Teatro Bellas Artes in Madrid from next Wednesday.

The montage by Marc G. de la Varga directed by Borja Rodríguez reflects on the meaning of aging, the struggle between expectations and harsh reality and the value of success. This sci-fi comedy stars Fernando Albizu, Gonzalo Ramos and Gloria Albalate.

What would happen if one unexpectedly met a person who is himself thirty years older? It is science fiction, yes; but it becomes real in the theater in Goteras. Both characters (the young man and his evolved being decades later) try to fix some vital damage so that the future goes better for both of them.

Goteras is “one of those texts that are read almost without feeling, that grows, and when it seems that can not go further, effectively goes much further, to serve masterfully the final dish by way of vital reflection where all the pieces fit”, explains its director, Borja Rodríguez.

The montage brings together two characters, a talented young playwright (Gonzalo Ramos), and a neighbor (Fernando Albizu) who lives upstairs, from where one day there are leaks. When the two meet, what was a simple domestic accident becomes the most important moment in the young man’s life, as he discovers that his neighbour is himself thirty years later. Your future self does not seem to have gone as your present self imagined, so both of you will try to change what has failed in the present for a better future. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
