The Spanish government has “strongly” condemned Iran’s bombing of two US bases in Qatar and Iraq, which represent “a further step in the military escalation” and endanger the entire region.
“The Spanish government strongly condemns Iran’s bombing of Qatar and Iraq,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared in a statement.
“This attack against US bases represents a further step in the military escalation and endangers the entire region,” it continued. “Spain reiterates its call for restraint and respect for international law, an immediate cessation of violence, and a return to diplomatic negotiations.”
In the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured that the government remains “in permanent contact with the military and Spanish forces in the region” and that “Spain reiterates its commitment to stability in the Middle East and will continue working with its partners for regional stability.”
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has announced the launch of “Operation Basharat al-Fath” against US targets in the region in retaliation for Sunday’s US bombings of Iranian nuclear facilities.
Iran fired ten ballistic missiles at the main US air base in the Persian Gulf, Al-Udeid (Qatar). Separately, another Iranian attack against the Ain al-Asad air base in Iraq has been reported.
