Katalin Tóth, Ambassador of Hungary, convened last Friday in her residence with friends and fellow diplomats on the occasion of her upcoming farewell from office.

Katalin Tóth had his speech written, but he preferred to improvise and address the guests spontaneously, “thanking all who have accepted our invitation to be with us in this restricted circle, but very prestigious for me”.

“As you know, continued the Hungarian ambassador, I soon conclude my mission here in Spain, after four and a half years, with very good memories in my heart. Of course, without the people here, I could not have been successful in this wonderful country. First of all I would like to thank you for the opportunity to experience during these years the contact with the Spanish administration, always very professional everyone, always open to our initiatives; very easily we manage to organize some events, meetings up to the highest level”.

The ambassador recalled that her mission coincided with the Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union. “I do not deny that during very turbulent and difficult times I took this position, he said, but I always felt the support of the Diplomatic Corps, they always participated in our events and initiatives with pleasure, without this support we would not have been able to be here today with these feelings in my heart.”

After thanking the Hungarian community in Spain and organizations of all kinds for their behaviour towards her person and work during these years, Katalin Tóth finally wanted to remember the team of the Hungarian Embassy. “You did an excellent job during the presidency, he said. We organized more than 70 programs during those six months. Thank you all.”
