Last Friday, the Ukrainian ambassador, Serhii Pohoreltsev, participated in the delivery of a fire truck in the Madrid town of Alcalá de Henares that will soon serve the Ukrainian rescue teams.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the coordinated cooperation of the Spanish partners: the ONGD Bomberos Unidos sin Fronteras donated the truck, the company Iturri carried out a complete technical modernization with its own funds together with its foundation, and the Fundación Centro Español will be responsible for moving to Ukraine.
Ambassador Pohoreltsev stressed the importance of this type of aid, noting that “Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine has catastrophic consequences for the environment whose effects will be felt by future generations: forests are destroyed, wild animals die, soil and water are polluted, and entire ecosystems are destroyed. So humanitarian aid, like this fire truck, is even more valuable. It is a contribution not only to saving human lives, but also to preserving the environment”.
“It should be noted that this is not the first contribution of this kind by the company Iturri and its foundation, continued the Ukrainian ambassador, which demonstrates his systematic and sincere support to Ukraine. We express our sincere thanks to all the partners: ONGD Bomberos Unidos sin Fronteras, the foundations Centro Español and ITURRI, as well as the entire team of ITURRI. We deeply appreciate the support and solidarity with the Ukrainian people.”
