Next Wednesday, June 25 at 7 pm, the Centro Casa Asia-Madrid (calle Mayor, 69) and the Instituto Español de Estudios Estratégicos present the round table India: keys in its rise to global power. Free activity upon registration at this link.

For many years all the attention was on China, but in this time India has taken firm steps to become a global power. Having freed itself from the constraints imposed by protectionism, the Indian economy is now one of the most dynamic and its growth in 2024 is expected to be 6.5%, surpassing even that of China.

At the multilateral level, it is part of the G20, the BRICS+, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Indian Ocean Basin Association. In each of these forums, India seeks to be a player in its own right and actively defend its interests.

On the occasion of the publication of the Strategy Book of the Spanish Institute for Strategic Studies (IEEE-CESEDEN) devoted to India and its rise to a world power, This round table looks at their geopolitical movements emerging from their traditional terrain of action in South Asia and how they aspire to become a global player with initiatives such as Act East or the convening of the Voices of the Global South forums.

After a welcome speech by the director of the Centro Casa Asia-Madrid, Emilio de Miguel, and the director of IEEE, Víctor Bados, will participate in the event Javier Fernández Aparicio, principal analyst of IEEE; Ana Ballesteros, senior associate researcher at the Real Instituto Elcano; Rubén Campos, Director of Programmes at the Club de Madrid, and Javier Gil, Universidad de Comillas.
