The Diplomat
The Asociación de Mujeres Caficultoras del Departamento del Cauca (AMUCC) was the protagonist of the AMUCC event, a case of success for Public Private Partnerships in generating impact, which took place at the Embassy of Colombia on Monday, June 16.
Victoria Girón, Elisabeth Trujillo, Maricela Trochez and María del Mar Paz had talks with more than thirty participants, including entrepreneurs responsible for strategic sustainability projects, groups and representatives of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID), about their experience and challenges in coffee production on small farms in Cauca, with the aim of generating economic income to support their homes.
The participants in the project noted the importance of public-private partnerships for sustaining productive projects and highlighted the role of international cooperation to ensure continuity in their work. Today they are part of the Tecnicafé technology park, dedicated to research in their field, and have the support of AECID to continue growing in number of members.
The Ambassador of Colombia, Eduardo Ávila, congratulated the initiative and stressed that, with the Coffee Diplomacy Strategy, “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs seeks to channel all that coffee can bring to the country, not only as a product but also as a platform for sustainable development, social cohesion and international projection”.
Over the next few days, coffee growers will follow a meeting agenda aimed at generating exchange networks with various actors linked to the value chain of Colombian coffee in Spain.
