Until next Sunday, June 15, the Teatro Bellas Artes de Madrid presents the play Ifigenia, by Silvia Zarco and Eva Romero, after its success at the Mérida Theatre Festival.
María Garralón and Juanjo Artero, among others, are the protagonists of this work, which reflects on violence and current society.
This installation not only promises an unforgettable theatrical experience, but will also represent Spain at the prestigious Classical Theatre Festival of Ostia Antica in Rome next July, as part of a significant cultural exchange between both festivals.
Through a new look at three classical tragedies (Iphigenia in Aulide, Hécuba and Agamemnon), the work traces the epic of the Greek victory and does not merely tell an ancient story, but uses it as a mirror to reflect on present-day society, raising questions about the guilt, pain and silence that have surrounded victims of violence throughout history,
«Ifigenia» is a high-level co-production between the International Festival of Classical Theatre Festival of Mérida and Maribel Mesón, which guarantees a scenic proposal of great quality and artistic rigor. Your selection for the Festival of Ostia Antica in Rome, one of the most important classical theatre events in Europe, underlines the relevance and international impact of this Spanish production.
