The writer Paul Richardot travels to Madrid to present his book Fragrancia tomorrow at 7 pm in the Mediatheque of the Instituto Francés in Madrid.
Imagine a mixture of olfactory components that would allow us to relive, literally, our most precious memory. This experience of immersion in the past is a service that the company Fragrancia provides exclusively to a limited elite at an astronomical price, thanks to a substance, SVM, which has intense psychotropic powers. The laws governing its use are ambivalent: tolerated until now, it could also be considered a tremendously addictive drug.
The young Hélias Révol is officially involved in aromatherapy, although he has been working for four years at the Fragrancia branch in Le Mans as an assistant to Alain Fisson, one of the company’s oldest olfactors. Determined to become an expert in translating memories into chemical formulas, he moves to the Fontainebleau headquarters to continue his apprenticeship, but on his way he meets Nora Olsson, the cold marketing director willing to defend the company’s secrets and her own. There he is involved in a police investigation into sexual assault, and Hélias, who was confident of being able to bottle the memories of the holidays, discovers that crime also has a smell.
Paul Richardot (1992) is a graduate of the Ecole Supérieure de Parfumerie in Paris and a leading figure in the cosmetics industry in France, partner of the perfumery company Violet. Fragrancia is his first novel.
