Fundación Casa de México (calle de Alberto Aguilera, 20) presents next Monday, June 16 at 7 pm the fourth edition of Transatlantic Talks, dialogues between Mexico and Spain, in which it will talk about the republican exile and Lázaro Cárdenas.
In these Talks, academics, writers and intellectuals exchange views and knowledge on topics of common interest. This edition will be coordinated and moderated by the writer and director of the Instituto Cervantes, Luis García Montero, under the title Desconquista y fraternidad.
The Spanish republican exile after the Civil War found refuge in Mexico thanks to the policy of welcoming President Lázaro Cárdenas (pictured). This colloquium will analyze the historical and cultural impact of that exile, as well as the traces it has left in the relationship between both countries. Fernando Martínez, Secretary of State for Democratic Memory at the Ministry of Territorial Policy and Democratic Memory, and Juan José Bonilla Rius, President of the Spanish Athenaeum of Mexico, address the importance of historical memory and the role of institutions in its preservation.
