Casa de América and the Mexican Embassy, through the Instituto Cultural de México en España, present the restored version of the film Ahí está el detalle (1940), starring the Mexican actor and comedian Mario Moreno “Cantinflas”.

Ahí está el detalle is a 1940 entanglement comedy, considered one of the great classics of Mexican cinematography. The film, starring the Mexican actor and comedian Mario Moreno “Cantinflas”, was a resounding success of critics and box office, and turned “Cantinflas” into an emblematic character of Mexican popular culture and a reference of the national identity of Mexico in Spain, Latin America and the United States.

The screening of Ahí está el detalle is part of the series of activities that the Cultural Institute and the Diplomatic Historical Collection of the Secretariat of Foreign Relations of the Government of Mexico will carry out in June to honor the life and career of “Cantinflas”. The activity is carried out with the support of Cineteca Nacional de México and Fundación Televisa.

Jorge Arturo Abascal Andrade, cultural attaché from Mexico and director of the Instituto Cultural de México, and José Francisco Mejía Flores, researcher at the Center for Research on Latin America and the Caribbean of UNAM (Mexico), will welcome the screening.

There is the detail tells how the confusion between the dog “Bobby” and a gangster of the same name triggers a series of entanglements between a jealous husband, his nervous wife, a rogue maid, an abandoned wife with eight children and the singular Cantinflas.
