The Compañía Nacional de Danza will star tomorrow at 18.30 hours in Madrid stop of La Estampida (The Herds), an ambitious artistic initiative of the English company The Walk Productions, under the artistic direction of Amir Nizar.
In this performance, a life-size pack of wild animal puppets will travel 20,000 kilometres from Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Trondheim in Norway to raise awareness about the effects of climate change.
The Stampede began on 9 April in Kinshasa and to date, the animals have travelled through Lagos, Dakar, Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat and San Fernando in Cadiz meeting local musicians, artists, dancers and climate activists.
On their way through Madrid, there will be the meeting of animal puppets, which escape the climate disaster, and the cast of the Compañía Nacional de Danza and the musicians of Neopercusión, with the assistance of the artistic direction of Ana Catalina Román, giving rise to an artistic intervention entitled A hunt under the sun which will begin at 18.30 and end at 19.15, according to the following itinerary, in the vicinity of the Centro Danza Matadero:
