The Turkish Ambassador to Spain, Nüket Küçükel Ezberci, hosted a reception this Monday at her official residence in honor of the delegation from the Turkish Exporters’ Association (TIM), which is in Madrid to participate in two days of work with representatives of the Spanish business community.

During the welcome, the Ambassador emphasized that this meeting “will contribute to our goal of elevating our economic relations with Spain to a higher level, which is among our priorities.” In her remarks, she highlighted the global transformation we are experiencing and how economic, technological, and geopolitical changes make it more necessary than ever to “identify our potential and develop joint solutions.”

One of the key moments of the visit was the signing of a memorandum of collaboration between the Turkish Exporters’ Association and the Madrid Chamber of Commerce, in line with the shared goal of diversifying and strengthening bilateral cooperation. The ambassador emphasized that, while trade relations between the two countries have been consolidated in traditional sectors such as the automotive, textile, machinery, and steel industries, the new focus must be placed on innovative, high-value-added areas such as the defense industry, healthcare technologies, renewable energy, and logistics.

The president of the Exporters’ Assembly, Mustafa Gültepe, thanked the ambassador for her commitment and noted that trade volume between the two countries reaches €19 billion, with the goal of reaching €25 billion, a target set by the presidents of Turkey and Spain during the 8th Intergovernmental Summit held in June 2024.

In this context, the upcoming visit of the Spanish Minister of Economy, Trade, and Enterprise, Carlos Cuerpo, to Turkey on May 29, on the occasion of the meeting of the Joint Commission on Economy and Trade (JETCO), further strengthens the institutional commitment to achieving these goals. “The experience of both countries will allow us to create joint opportunities not only in our bilateral cooperation, but also in third-party markets,” concluded the Ambassador, who expressed her confidence that these events will lead to concrete, lasting, and mutually beneficial partnerships.

The reception, attended by representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, honorary consuls, and business leaders, coincided with Turkish Cuisine Week, offering attendees the opportunity to learn about the country’s rich gastronomy and ancient history.
