The Government has launched a website to access, through the Moncloa website, all available information on the 4th United Nations International Conference on Financing for Development, which will be held in Seville from June 30 to July 3.
According to the Executive, this international meeting will bring together governments, international and regional organizations, financial and commercial institutions, businesses, civil society, and members of the United Nations system with the aim of strengthening international cooperation. Numerous heads of state and government are expected to participate, along with more than 10,000 attendees, including official delegates, participants, and the media.
The Conference, known as FFD4, will feature an extensive official program and numerous parallel events and activities at various levels. On Spain’s behalf, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez is expected to participate in various debates and roundtables on cooperation, governance, and multilateral financing throughout the four-day summit. The official FFD4 program includes the opening session—with interventions by the United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, and the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez—the various plenary sessions, and the closing ceremony.
In addition, there will be more than 300 events on specific topics within the areas of multilateral financing for development: mobilizing domestic public resources, mobilizing private enterprise and finance, revitalizing international development cooperation, defending the multilateral trading system and promoting science, technology, and innovation, implementing a development-oriented sovereign debt architecture, and improving the international financial architecture and addressing systemic issues.
The FFD4 agenda includes the launch of the Seville Platform for Action (SPA), which will mobilize coalitions of countries and other stakeholders to launch joint initiatives that address common challenges in the field of sustainable development. In parallel to the Conference, an International Business Forum will be held, bringing together heads of state and government, ministers, CEOs, and global business leaders to attract private financing and investment in sustainable development and the completion of the 2030 Agenda.
Separately, before the official start of the Conference, civil society actors will meet for two days (June 28 and 29) to discuss their role in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and propose new initiatives to achieve them.
