The Tourist Office of Portugal present at the 84th Madrid Book Fair

The Tourist Office of Portugal in Spain will be present for one more year at the 84th Book Fair of Madrid, which will be held in Parque de El Retiro from 30 May to 15 June this year. This time, Visit Portugal will occupy the booth of Portugal, number 384, located in block 26C (international zone).

 

Inspired by Portuguese books and authors, from booth #384, Visit Portugal will offer literary maps of the country, with recommendations for tourist routes that include heritage and unmissable architecture. In addition, this year they pay tribute to the Portuguese writer and poet Luis de Camões for his 500th anniversary, as well as to Camilo Castelo Branco for his 200 years.

 

For this edition, Visit Portugal shares space with the Lisbon bookstore Snob, which offers editions of old and contemporary authors.

 

The following activities are planned:

Tales under the umbrella | Friday 30 May to Sunday 15 June, 7 pm, booth #384, sector 26C. Daily activity in which Visit Portugal will read fragments of works by Portuguese authors under an umbrella inviting attendees to an intimate moment to share the historical and cultural legacy of Portugal.

 

Presentation Inés de Castro, by Isabel Stilwell | Monday, 2 June, 11 hours. Face-to-face meeting in which Isabel Stilwell (pictured) will talk about her portrait of the posthumous queen of Portugal, Inés de Castro, as well as her story.

 

Glasses of poetry and Fado flavored with muscatel | Tuesday, June 10, 11 hours, Sala de Actos Biblioteca Eugenio Trías (Retiro). On the occasion of the Day of Portugal and the lusophone communities, Visit Portugal will pay tribute to the great Portuguese poets such as Luis de Camões and the landscapes that have influenced his legacy while the attendees enjoy Portuguese verses, wine from Porto under the fado melody.
