The Centro Cultural Coreano, in collaboration with the Soluna Art Group, Loewe Foundation and the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza opens on May 30 at 7.30 pm the exhibition A Time of Sincerity (Un tiempo de sinceridad), by Korean artist Dahye Jeong, as part of Korea Season, an ambitious project driven by KOFICE and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Korea that celebrates cultural events throughout 2025 in Spain.
Since she won the Loewe Foundation’s Craft Award in 2022, Dahye Jeong has earned international recognition and has become a prominent cultural ambassador of Korean art and crafts. Soluna Art Group, a leading company in the promotion of Korean art and crafts worldwide, has played a key role in managing and supporting its international presence, bringing its work to audiences around the world.
Under the title A Time of Sincerity, Dahye Jeong’s works will be exhibited at the Centro Cultural Coreano in Spain from the end of May, showing 11 works that are the result of a complete immersion creative process that adds to the physical material of the horsehair.
In addition, in collaboration with the Loewe Foundation, an open talk will be held at the headquarters of the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, in which the artist Dahye Jeong will participate along with other winners of the Loewe Foundation’s Craft Award.
The use of horsehair -transparent, bright and with its own shape- reflects in his work values such as constancy, honesty and contemplation, rooted in the Confucian philosophy. The artist seeks that the small come together to form something strong and meaningful, such as her own life and creative trajectory. This natural fiber has been used for more than 500 years in Korea to make traditional hats during the Joseon dynasty. The technique, almost extinct, has been rescued by Jeong and transformed into a contemporary artistic expression that unites tradition, innovation and aesthetic sensitivity.
