The Instituto Cultural de México exhibits ‘BN FABRE’, by Patricia Fabre

Until 6 June, the Instituto Cultural de México in Madrid (Carrera de San Jerónimo, 46) will present the exhibition BN FABRE by Patricia Fabre, a set of black and white drawings and a sublime series of dishes made from Talavera ceramics.

A cracked flat, made to the pulse of Patricia Fabre, in black on a white background, in its multiple notebooks, loose leaves, frames, drawings placed even in metallic relief, is what defines the purity and fiber of this Mexican artist’s work that reveals her motivation: the linear.

BN FABRE is an approach to what precedes the chromatic work of Patricia Fabre, it is what gives meaning to an artistically particular language, its lines define its visual alphabet, makes it universal. It’s not an easy thing. Subscribe as an artist from the linear is one of the great merits, first for the monochromatic, and then for the volume that acquire the different planes. There is in his two-dimensional language a three-dimensional sound that invites us to walk through those spaces, those corridors, that is: not going into a maze, but visually walking its path, we do not know what space it leads to, But if we put our index finger on one of those gaps and move it to the front, down or point somewhere else, we will realize that the work of art has already fulfilled its function: walking through its different sonic boundaries. Much of what is behind each of his drawings is intrinsically linked to the musical.

The Mexican artist Patricia Fabre has participated in more than 60 individual and collective exhibitions.  His pieces participated in the II and III edition of the Pacific Biennial of Painting and Engraving “Gauguin”. In recent years, he has exhibited in spaces such as the Art Gallery of the Municipal Palace of Puebla, the Museum of University Historical Memory. Centro Cultural Indianilla and the International Museum of the Baroque. In recent years he has devoted much of his artistic production to the elaboration of artist’s books.
