Virtual presentation this morning at 10.30 on Responsibility and coordination in the implementation of the Extended Producer Responsibility (RAP), an analysis of the role of state, autonomous and local governments, organized by the Fundación Alternativas.

Effective implementation of the RAP in Spain requires coordination between different levels of government. Each has specific competencies, but lack of alignment or clarity in these responsibilities can make it difficult to achieve environmental goals. This webinar will discuss how these responsibilities are distributed and exercised, what coordination mechanisms exist and to what extent the objectives set by the RAP regulations are being met.

The objective is to identify the specific responsibilities of governments at their different levels (state, autonomous and local) in the implementation of Extended Producer Responsibility (RAP). The existing intergovernmental coordination mechanisms will also be discussed, with particular attention to their effectiveness in achieving the goals associated with RAP. In addition, the extent to which targets set at both national and regional levels have been met will be analysed with a view to identifying potential areas for improvement.

Diego López Garrido, executive vice president of the Fundación Alternativas, will say a few words of welcome and then there will be the initial presentation The social impact of RAP in Spain: challenges in coordination between administrations, by Ricardo Luis Izquierdo, Director General of Circular Economy of the Fuenlabrada City Council, to continue at 11 am with a Dialogue of the Panel of Experts, with the participation of Begoña de Benito, Director of External Relations and ESG of Ecoembes; Alodia Pérez, coordinator of the Department of Ecological and Environmental Transition in the City of Getafe; Ignacio Aguilar, vice-president of ANEPMA, Dtor. Solid Urban Waste Technician from Castilla La Mancha, and Rubén Esteban, former president of the Water and Waste Consortium from La Rioja. The event will be moderated by José Luis de la Cruz Leiva, director of Sustainability at Fundación Alternativas.
