Invest in Spain brings together 75 multinationals from 25 countries in Madrid to analyze foreign investment in Spain

The Diplomat More than 75 multinationals from 25 countries will meet this Monday in Madrid at the Invest in Spain Summit international forum to analyze Spain's role and strengths as a priority destination for foreign investment. The event will be opened by King Felipe VI and closed by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez. The Invest in Spain Summit forum, organized by ICEX-Invest in Spain and the first of its kind to be held in Spain, will allow for bilateral meetings between members of the Government and public entities (such as the CNMC and the Bank of Spain) with the companies attending the meeting. The Executive will be represented by the Third Vice President of the Government and Minister for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, Sara Aagesen, and the Ministers of Economy, Trade and Business, Carlos Cuerpo; Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu; and Digital Transformation and Public Service, Óscar López. “Spain is an open economy and one of the largest recipients of foreign investment in the world,” ICEX-Invest in Spain stated in a press release. Therefore, this event “will address business opportunities in the Spanish market in strategic sectors linked to the green and digital transition, a driver of growth for the European economy in the coming years,” it continued. “Its objective is to strengthen direct dialogue at the highest level between the government and major international investors,” it added. Government sources indicated that 22 of the 75 multinationals present at the forum are from the United States. In addition, there will be ten Japanese companies, six from China, five from Germany, another five from the United Kingdom, four from France, four from Switzerland, three from Australia, two from Canada, and two from Italy. By sector, the most notable companies are those in the information and communications technology (ICT), automotive, life sciences, energy, chemical and mining sectors, aerospace, agri-food, and audiovisual sectors, all of which were selected over several months by ICEX. Invest in Spain is an executive division of ICEX Spain Export and Investment, a public business entity of the State Secretariat for Trade of the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Enterprise. Its mission is to promote foreign direct investment (FDI) in Spain and support business owners and entrepreneurs who wish to establish their companies in Spain.
