The Embassy of Portugal presents on 29 and 30 April in the Miguel de Cervantes and Oscar Niemeyer rooms of Casa América the cycle of conferences and debates Sobre Viajeros de aquí y allá (About travelers here and there), which brings together the work of Portuguese and Spanish authors who have narrated trips to the neighboring country. Free admission until capacity is full.

Coordinated by Feliciano Novoa Portela and Isabel Cristina Fernandes and presented by contemporary writers, two Portuguese authors will talk about texts by Spanish writer-travellers, and four Spanish authors will deal with Portuguese writer-travellers.

After a welcome address by León de la Torre, Director General of the Casa de América, and José Augusto Duarte, Ambassador of Portugal, on Tuesday 29 at 5.30 p.m., the conference About Travel in Spain and Portugal will be presented first, by Pilar del Rio, journalist and translator, and José Augusto Duarte, ambassador of Portugal. After it, Julio Llamazares, writer and screenwriter, will talk about Trás-os-Montes: a Portuguese trip, and later, Ramón Reboiras, writer and journalist, will talk about Los Agustinos. Trips with Bessa-Luis, to end with the words of Patricia Portela, writer, about Por tierras de Portugal y España, by Miguel de Unamuno.

The following day, Wednesday, the cycle will open at 17.30 hours by the writer Alfonso Armada, with Cadernos de Viagem, by Fialho de Almeida, followed by Gonçalo M. Tavares, poet and novelist, who will talk about Viaje a Portugal, by José Saramago, to end with Nuria Barrios, writer, translator and literary critic, who will deal with Miguel Torga’s Viajes a España.
