The Instituto Francés de Madrid continues with the Costa-Gavras Retrospective and tomorrow Tuesday will show two films by the French filmmaker Los raíles del crimen (pictured) (at 7.30 pm) and Arcadia, (at 9.30 pm).
In the first one, it is told how during a train journey from Marseille to Paris, six people share a sleeper car. When one of them is killed, the police start investigating.
Shot in 1965, this film of intrigue and noir, directed and written by Costa-Gavras, has a luxury cast (Yves Montand, Jacques Perrin, Catherine Allégret, Pierre Mondy, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Simone Signoret and Michel Piccoli). To attend, you must register at this link.
The second of the projections, Arcadia, directed in 2005, tells how Bruno, a loyal employee of a company within the paper production sector and highly qualified, is dismissed along with hundreds of colleagues due to an economic restructuring. Far from worrying, Bruno knows that he will soon find a job as he is well prepared and still young. After three years of being unemployed, he realizes that he has become a private soldier whose mission is to survive and ensure the well-being of his family. With the help of a weapon, he decides to take justice into his own hands and take action and attack the only obstacle that separates him from his desired job: the Arcadia Corporation, a large paper company.
After several assassinations of potential competitors for his much-desired job, some with great luck on their part and others unpremeditated, he gets the desired job. The ending is suspense. Registrations at this link.
