This Tuesday, the Council of Ministers approved the emergency declaration for the contracting of the rehabilitation works for the facilities at the residence of the Spanish Embassy to UNESCO in Paris, for an amount of €664,411 (VAT included).
According to the Government, the residence of the Spanish Embassy to UNESCO in Paris suffered a pipe collapse in 2024, seriously affecting the apartment on the lower floor.
Following this incident, the architectural firm Management Solutions 4 Construction S.L. was urgently requested to conduct an in-depth analysis of the state of the facilities. This report concluded that emergency action should be taken on the facilities, as they were completely obsolete and jeopardized the safety of the staff who perform their duties and reside in the building.
On March 21, the Association of Spanish Diplomats (ADE) denounced “the poor condition of many of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ buildings abroad,” specifically the embassies and consulates, whose “deterioration” poses “a serious risk to both the people who work there and the public who visit them” and causes “reputational damage to our country’s image.”
