The Indo-Pacific is an immense region that stretches between the two oceans that give it its name. It is home to more than half the world’s population and brings together over 80 countries on its shores. Plays a crucial role in the global economy and geostrategy. Historically prosperous, it accounts for two-thirds of world GDP.
This work reviews the different conceptions on the Indo-Pacific and the strategies of the various actors, as well as the multilateral forums and partnerships that are being created to manage the region and the existing rivalries.
They will participate in the presentation of the book Emilio de Miguel, director of the Centro Casa Asia-Madrid and diplomat expert in Asia; Eva Borreguero, professor of International Relations, Universidad Complutense de Madrid and indóloga; Agustín Santos, diplomat, former ambassador of Spain to the UN and deputy for Madrid of the G.P Plurinacional Sumar, and Juan Manuel López-Nadal, author of the book.
Juan Manuel López-Nadal entered the diplomatic career in 1980. His first-hand experiences in the Asian continent, where he has been ambassador of Spain in Thailand, Cambodia, Burma and Laos and consul general in Hong Kong, have made him one of the great specialists in Asian affairs.
