The director of the Instituto Cervantes, Luis García Montero, will open the inaugural plenary conference this Monday at the meeting of the Association of Hispanists of Great Britain and Ireland, which will be held at the University of Edinburgh.
The 70th Annual Conference of the Association of Hispanists of Great Britain and Ireland, organized by the University of Edinburgh, will consist of two in-person sessions at the academic institution’s headquarters (from Monday, April 7 to Tuesday, April 8) and one entirely virtual session (on Thursday, April 10).
García Montero’s lecture, according to the Instituto Cervantes, will be titled “Humanism, Science with Roots.” He will previously participate in the opening ceremony of the annual meeting of Hispanists, at an event in which he will be accompanied by Sarah Wright, president of the association and a member of Royal Holloway University of London.
This event is part of an institutional trip to the United Kingdom by the director of the Instituto Cervantes, which began this past Friday and included visits to the Institute’s centers in London and Manchester, where he met with its staff and management team. He also held a meeting with young Hispanic creators at the institution’s headquarters in London.
