On Monday, 7 April at 2am, the Instituto Francés de Madrid will premiere in its theatre the film Presunción de inocencia (Le Fil), directed and starring Daniel Auteuil, a judicial thriller about the search for truth. The film will be released in cinemas in Spain on 9 May, distributed by Adso Films. Screening in original version subtitled in French.
The film, based on a true story, adapts an account by lawyer Jean-Yves Moyart, collected in Le Livre de maître Mô (Jean-Yves Moyart). The plot follows Jean Monier (Daniel Auteuil), a criminal lawyer who stopped defending criminals after the case of a repeat murderer who won acquittal.
Fate confronts him with a new dilemma when Nicolas Milik (Grégory Gadebois), a seemingly innocent man, is accused of the murder of his wife. As the trial progresses, Monier becomes deeply involved in the case, facing a ruthless prosecution seeking to prove Milik’s guilt.
Auteuil, known for his career as an actor in films such as La belle époque and Le huitième jour, directs his sixth feature film here. In Presumption of Innocence, he plays with tension and suspense, exploring the limits of justice and truth. This judicial thriller promises to keep the viewer in suspense until its conclusion, with an absorbing narrative and unexpected twists. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
