Last Tuesday, the Romanian Embassy organized a public diplomacy event on the occasion of the 203rd anniversary of the Romanian Police.
In a statement by the Romanian diplomatic delegation, it is stressed that “bilateral relations between the Romanian and Spanish Ministries of the Interior are excellent, especially with regard to police cooperation and the numerous joint projects involving the Romanian and Spanish police institutions”.
On this occasion, Raluca Mihăilă, Chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Romanian Embassy, in the presence of senior officials, Interior Attaché accredited to Madrid and other senior officials, handed the ‘Emblem of Honor’ to several agents of the Spanish National Police and Civil Guard “, as detailed in the note, by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Marian Cătălin Predoiu, as a token of appreciation for his unwavering and unconditional support to police cooperation activities, as well as the support of the Kingdom of Spain in the process of full accession of Romania to the Schengen area”.
The head of the Diplomatic Mission stressed the essential role of security in guaranteeing rights and freedoms, fundamental democratic values: “Without order and security there is no freedom, said Raluca Mihăilă, no social or political rights, no development, no social progress, no justice. That is why today we celebrate the role of State Security Forces and Bodies in guaranteeing rights and defending democratic values in a European Union that we all yearn for free, prosperous and fair”.
For her part, the Attaché of the Interior at the Romanian Embassy, Chief Commissioner Mădălina Vlangăr, conveyed the message of the General Inspector of the Romanian Police, Benone-Marian Matei and, on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior, expressed her gratitude to her Spanish colleagues: “through joint operations, educational initiatives, strategic analyses and the promotion of bilateral dialogue, the representatives of the Spanish National Police and the Civil Guard have created lasting bridges between our institutions and have turned challenges into common achievements”.
In their statement, the representatives of the Spanish Civil Guard and National Police thanked for the distinctions and praised the excellent cooperation with their Romanian colleagues, “which has remained at the same level of excellence for many years, in which they have achieved professional success as a result of numerous joint operations”.
