Homage to the poet Ángel González at the Instituto Cervantes

Homage to Ángel González, a celebration dedicated to the memory and work of one of the most important poets of 20th century Spanish literature. In-person and online activity. At this event, prominent literary and cultural personalities will pay tribute to González through the reading of his verses, highlighting the validity and depth of his poetic legacy. His work, characterized by a lucid and committed look, has left an indelible mark on contemporary poetry, combining existential reflection with subtle irony. Ángel González was one of the most representative voices of post-war poetry and of the so-called Generation of 50. His writing, marked by a sober tone and direct language, explores themes such as the passage of time, memory, love and social criticism, always with a mixture of melancholy and fine irony. Throughout his career, his poetry evolved from a more intimate and disenchanted vision towards a more playful and experimental perspective, consolidating a unique style that remains a reference for the new generations. The event will not only offer a tour of some of the most emblematic poems of the author, but will also have a musical recital by the hand of Jordina Biosca and guitarist David García, creating a space in which word and music will dialogue in harmony. With this initiative, the Cervantes Institute reaffirms its commitment to the dissemination of literature in Spanish and the recognition of key figures of our cultural heritage. They will participate in the tribute to the Asturian poet Luis García Montero, director of the Instituto Cervantes; María José Gálvez Salvador, director general of the book, comic and reading.
