In the week that Madrid hosts multiple contemporary art fairs, the Embassy of Portugal announces the reissue of the Map of Portuguese Artists in Spanish Galleries, which will be presented and distributed at ARCOmadrid to collectors and professionals of the sector accredited at the fair. This edition features 43 artists represented by 34 galleries in 11 different cities.
On the 8th (sold out) and 28th of March will take place the last guided tours to Madrid de Almada Negreiros, organized by the Embassy in collaboration with La Liminal. Reservations by mail hola@laliminal.com.
On 20 March, at 5 p.m., in one of the exhibition rooms of the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, will be held the conference From María de Aragón to Isabel de Braganza, from India to the Prado: circulation of objects and knowledge between Spain and Portugal between the 16th and 19th centuries, Professor Fernando Bouza.
Today and on 12 and 14 March, the artist Flávia Vieira will present the video The other color, result of her participation in the artistic residency promoted by Matadero, in collaboration with the Embassy and ArtWorks. The sessions will take place in the Conference Room of the Museo del Prado at 11.00 and 18.30.
Miguel Gomes’ film Grand Tour, awarded Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival, opens in Spanish cinemas today.
Also today at 9 pm, the Portuguese singer Cristina Clara performs on stage with the dancer Bárbara Faustino and the pianist Ariel Rodríguez in La Pedrera, with the show Frontera.
The Portuguese writer Lídia Jorge (pictured) comes to Madrid to participate in a dialogue with the writer Rosa Montero on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 pm at the Fundación Ramón Areces. A day before he will stop in Valladolid, where he will present his book Misericordia, at the bookstore El Rincón de Morla.
Anton’s Hand is made of Guilt. No Muscle of Bone. He has a Gung-ho Finger and a Grief-stricken Thumb. Until 29 March, the Galería Daniel Cuevas in Madrid (calle de Santa Engracia, 6, under center) shows an exhibition of the Portuguese artist Edgar Martins, developed in North Africa between 2018 and 2024.
The site-specific installation of Ana Vidigal, Cuentáme del viento, can also be seen until 29 March in the Galería Espacio Mínimo (calle del Dr. Fourquet, 17).
Curated by Manuel Borja-Villel, the exhibition Opera to a Black Venus brings together the widest selection of works by the Portuguese artist Grada Kilomba in Spain. Until 31 March at the Museo Reina Sofía.
Until 26 April, the Galería Helga de Alvear in Madrid (calle del Dr. Fourquet, 12) shows a selection of the most recent works by José Pedro Croft. The exhibition brings together a set of sculptures, drawings and engravings designed to establish a dialogue with the gallery space and the viewer’s perception.
Joana Vasconcelos exhibits Flamboyant, more than 50 works in the Palace of Liria (Princess street, 20) until 31 July, in which is the first exhibition of contemporary art held at the Palace.
