The Embassy of the Dominican Republic and the entity Formación para el Desarrollo y la Inserción (DEFOIN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand training opportunities and strengthen the labor insertion of the Dominican community residing in Spain.
The agreement, signed on February 5 at the diplomatic mission’s headquarters by Ambassador Juan Bolívar and Agustín Chicharro Botija, DEFOIN’s counselor, establishes a framework of cooperation that will allow Dominican citizens to access more than 8,000 places in subsidized training programs, designed to promote their professional qualifications and improve their competitiveness in the Spanish labor market. The agreement provides that at least 40% of the beneficiaries of the courses will be Dominican nationals, guaranteeing preferential access to the training initiatives.
The Memorandum responds to the need to promote training as a fundamental axis for the professional development and socioeconomic integration of the Dominican diaspora, in a context where updating skills and adapting to new labor paradigms are essential. Under this agreement, access to training will be facilitated in various modalities, including classroom courses, e-learning and virtual classroom programs, guaranteeing the inclusion of those nationals who need to strengthen their professional profile to respond to market demands. It also provides for collaboration with Dominican-owned companies in Spain, with the purpose of articulating strategies to facilitate the management of subsidies for business modernization and digitization.
The agreement also contemplates the organization of information days aimed at Dominican nationals, in order to provide guidance on training opportunities and access to grants for training and business innovation. Within this framework, the Embassy will actively collaborate in the articulation with the business sector, facilitating contact with DEFOIN for the implementation of strategies that favor the updating and specialization of the Dominican community. In this context, continuing education and access to training opportunities are fundamental pillars to strengthen the competitiveness and professional development of Dominicans abroad, in harmony with the principles of integration and progress that govern diplomatic action in favor of the community.
