As part of the EMNA RUMANTSCHA 2025, the week of the Romanche language, and organized by the Embassy of Switzerland to Spain and Andorra, will be held on Tuesday 18 February at 18.30 in the Sala María Zambrano of the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid a literary evening. Free entry until capacity is full.
Since 20 February 1938, Romansh has been the fourth official language of Switzerland. With the introduction of EMNA RUMANTSCHA in 2020, events have been held in several countries during this week of February to introduce Romanche to a wider audience.
For the event in Madrid, the publishing house Edition Mevina Puorger has translated into Spanish poems by the Romansh author Gianna Olinda Cadonau (pictured). The preface and epilogue of the book introduce the Romansh language and literature to a Spanish-speaking audience. The author Gianna Olinda Cadonau and her translator Rita Catrina will read and comment on the poems in Romanche and Spanish.
