The Minister of Economy, Trade and Business, Carlos Cuerpo, has assured that the bilateral trade relations between Spain and Poland have grown by fifty percent “in the last five years”, reaching “22,000 million in trade in goods and services”.

Cuerpo spoke these words during the inauguration of the Spain-Poland Business Meeting, which is being held from 11 to 13 February in Warsaw and is attended by fifty Spanish companies belonging mainly to the energy, transport infrastructure and space sectors, according to ICEX Spain Export and Investments. The Business Meeting also has the attendance of 235 Polish companies.

“There are now more than 300 Spanish companies in Poland, many of which have been here for so long that they are, in fact, part of the local economic and productive fabric,” continued Carlos Cuerpo, who was accompanied by the Undersecretary of State of the Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of Poland, Michal Baranowsky.

According to ICEX Spain Export and Investments, the body of the State Secretariat for Trade for the internationalisation of the Spanish economy, Poland is one of Spain’s main investment destinations in Central Europe, with an accumulated investment stock of 6,356 million euros in 2022 that has generated more than 37,500 jobs in the local market. For Poland, in turn, Spain continues to be one of the main investing countries, occupying sixth place in 2023 after the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany and France.

Poland has also become one of Spain’s main trading partners and in recent years there has been a notable growth in Spanish exports to the country, reflecting strong domestic demand and economic recovery after the pandemic.

In order to facilitate contacts between companies from the two countries, ICEX and the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Warsaw have organised, during the meeting, more than fifty meetings, taking into account the projects and interests of Spanish companies in the Polish market.
