As part of the celebration of the Korean New Year according to the lunar calendar, the Centro Cultural Coreano presents the event Fiesta Seollal 2025, which takes place until next February 21.
The Seollal refers to the first day of the lunar calendar, one of the most important traditional days in Korea. The New Year’s festivities last for 3 days and many people return to their native villages to visit their parents and relatives where they perform an ancestral ritual, make obeisances to their elders and enjoy playing various traditional games like Yutnori, Jeguichagi, kite flying, etc.
The Seollal 2025 Festival face-to-face program will showcase traditional Korean hanboks, such as first birthdays and weddings, and will host an experiential event where visitors can try out traditional hanboks. This year in particular, the Centro Cultural Coreano offers year-round Doljabi’ events for children/ers and their families celebrating their first birthday. *The link to request this event will be posted on the Instagram of the Center.
During this event, which has been designed to facilitate understanding and getting closer to Korean culture by providing a place to experience and enjoy the Korean culture of Seollal, Families and friends visiting the Cultural Centre gallery can participate together and experience traditional Korean folk games, including Ddakjichigi, Jegichagi, Biseokchigi and Gonggi nori, They will be recognizable by the public after their appearance in the second season of The Squid Game.
