On Fridays and Saturdays from 7 to 15 February at 19.30, at its Weekend Box Office, Casa de América reproduces the feature film Niños de Las Brisas, written and directed by Marianela Maldonado.

Shot over ten years, the documentary follows three Venezuelan children from the Las Brisas neighborhood of Valencia who are struggling to become professional musicians within the National System of Orchestras. A story of endurance, resilience and perseverance, exploring the power of discipline and classical music as tools for survival.

The film was world premiere at DOC NYC, the most important documentary film festival in the United States, has been selected by the official selection of numerous international festivals and has won, among others, the SACEM Prize (Society of Authors and Composers of France) Best Musical Documentary of the Year, Lussas, Ardeche, 2022 and the Best Documentary Award at Reflets du Cinéma Ibérique et Latino-Américain, Lyon, 2023.

With the participation of Edixon Yáñez, Dissandra Viloria and Wuilly Arteaga, the documentary follows three Venezuelan children from the neighborhood Las Brisas in Valencia who are struggling to become professional musicians within the National System of Orchestras. Over a decade, Edixon, Dissandra and Wuilly are not giving up in their attempts to achieve a better future and, through their looks, the portrait of a country taken by a dictatorial regime is sketched.
