On Sunday, February 9, a total of 189,654 Ecuadorians residing in Spain are entitled to exercise their right to vote in the General Elections of Ecuador. In these elections, the presidential binomial, national and foreign assemblymen, as well as representatives to the Andean Parliament will be elected.

To facilitate the electoral process, the National Electoral Council (CNE), in coordination with the Ecuadorian consulates, has set up 19 polling stations in cities with a high concentration of Ecuadorians, including Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Murcia, Seville, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca, among others.

Polling stations will be open from 9 to 19 hours (local time), after which the counting of votes will begin. Citizens are advised to plan their working day in advance and to consider that the peak hours are usually between 9 and 11 o’clock and 17 and 19 o’clock. It is therefore preferable to come at intermediate times, when the flow is lower and the process more agile.

Voters can consult their polling place and obtain information about the candidates and their work plans on the www.cne.gob.ec website or on the CNE mobile app.

To vote, you must have changed your address, either at a consular office or on the CNE website, until 15 May 2024. It should be remembered that voting abroad is optional, so those who cannot vote because they are not registered abroad can justify themselves and will not have to pay any fine.
