Casa Árabe: ‘Food insecurity in the Arab countries’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The ninth session of the Arab University Classroom cycle, entitled Food insecurity in the emerging Arab countries, arrives at Casa Árabe tomorrow, Tuesday, 7 p.m., by Sébastien Abis, Director of the Demeter Club and Associate Researcher at the Institute for International and Strategic Relations (IRIS). In French with simultaneous interpretation into Spanish.

Basing on his latest book, Sébastien Abis will discuss in his conference how the 21st century is a new century for agriculture and food security on the planet and the impact this has on Arab countries in particular.

It is estimated that by 2050 the Earth will reach a historical population peak. As a result, food needs are increasing, including in terms of quality and health, but the decarbonisation of economies and livelihoods is essential to protect nature. According to Abis, feeding and repairing the planet becomes a double mission, as immense and demanding as Everest, which will fall on the agricultural world. He will be the sherpa who will lead us to greater human security and sustainability in the future.

Organized in collaboration with the Master’s Degree in Political Science and Public Affairs from Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus and the Master’s Degree in Economic Intelligence and Geopolitics from the School of Economic Intelligence and International Relations of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM), will present to the speaker Barah Mikail, professor of Political Science and International Relations at Saint Louis University – Madrid Campus, and will make a first reaction/comment Ángel Rodríguez García-Brazales, director of the School of Economic Intelligence and International Relations (UAM). Olivia Orozco, Education and Economics coordinator at Casa Árabe, will moderate the debate.

Free admission to the event until capacity is full. You can also follow it live on YouTube.
