The Instituto Italiano de Cultura in Madrid continues its cycle In Scena a Palazzo, and on 5 February at 8 pm will present two short choreographies by Adriano Bolognino, taken from Chopin/INTO US – Bruciare and Your body is a battleground, with dancers Rosaria Di Maro, Laura dell’Agnese and Cristina Roggerini.
The title Your body is a battleground refers to the positive/negative image created and disseminated by Barbara Kruger for the women’s march on Washington in 1989, a demonstration that claimed the right of women to self-determination over their own bodies, reproductive rights and abortion in the United States. The work seeks to deepen our individual consciousness and social awareness of today’s roles.
As for Chopin/ INTO US – Bruciare, Bolognino states that: “…Chopin is perhaps the musical author who comes closest to certain rhythms that embody the main essence of my choreographic work. Unexpected, silences and pauses. Elements that from the first moment I met dance have fascinated me and transported me to who I am today. Chopin was able to give his sound emotion, lyrical, passion. A sound that never comes into being as something merely aesthetic, but always starts from an emotional disposition”.
Born in 1995 in Naples, Adriano Bolognino is an independent choreographer who collaborates with both dance companies and independent dancers.
