About a thousand Ecuadorians participated in the Los Hermanos Núñez concert at the auditorium of the Comisiones Obreras (CC.OO.) in Madrid, on the occasion of the commemoration of 25 years since the beginning of the Ecuadorian migration to Spain.
The cultural event was chaired by the ambassador of Ecuador, Wilma Andrade; the President of the Rumiñahui Association, Wladimir Paspuel, and the General Secretary of CC.OO., Paloma Bermejo, in whose speeches they added value “the stories of overcoming and the example of integration that has the Ecuadorian community in Spain, whose contribution contributes to the economic and social development of this country”.
“I congratulate the courage of our migrants, Wilma Andrade assured her compatriots. Each of you has incredible stories of achievement that make us proud. We will continue to work towards creating better opportunities for access to employment and training grants to improve their quality of life in Spain. You are the reason for the existence of an Embassy and a Consulate…”.
The musical evening began with the participation of young artists from the contemporary Ecuadorian music scene such as Camila Pérez, Mauro Samaniego and Tom Vallejo, and concluded with the concert of Los Hermanos Núñez, icons of popular Ecuadorian music with more than 30 years of career, who performed emblematic themes of the national repertoire such as: Mi lindo Ecuador, Cariñito, Chola Cuencana, Lindo Quito, Mi Lindo Ecuador, among others.
The short film on migration, El extraño caso del hombre bala, by the Ecuadorian artist Beto Valencia was screened and 13 awards were given to outstanding personalities from the Ecuadorian community in Spain.
The winners during the evening were: in the Music Category: José Ignacio Gavilanes del Castillo, National Award “Ecuadorian Young Soloists” (Quito, 1983). Concert organ and harpsichord player with baroque music groups and orchestras. Collaborator of RTVE, ONE, ORCAM, OSM, Auditorio Nacional de Música de Madrid and Teatro Real; Carlos Paredes, president of the Asociación Socio Cultural y Artística Ecuatoriana (ASCAE). Founded in Madrid in 2007, and Darío Castro, musician, author, producer and cultural manager. Founder of Verde70 & C.E.O. at Radar Music.
In the Dance category, the following were awarded: Julio Chancusig and Walter Robalino, founder and choreographer of the Ballet juvenil Intiquilla, and the Ballet Quitus, the first Ecuadorian dance group in Spain founded by the master Edgar López and currently directed by Mónica Jara. In the category of Academia: María Gabriela Ortega Jarrín, Partner and Vice-President of the ALEPH Educational Institution. Sociologist, political scientist and doctor in communication. Winner of the Recognition Top 100 Women Leaders of the Magazine MAGAS of El Español. In the Media Category: Silvia Cachago, Founder of Ecuatoriana FM. The first Ecuadorian radio station in Spain. He collects the prize for her son: Carlos Guevara Cachago. In the Sports category, the following were awarded: Gabriel Caisaguano, Director and Founder of the “Ecuavoley Global” Project and founder of Ecuavoley Radio and Punto Rojo Radio, and Rody Rivas, Director of the magazine Golazo Latino and Information Promoter of the first sports football leagues in Madrid.
In the category of non-profit social organizations, Winston Erazo, President of the Association for Foreigners of Navarre (APROENA), was awarded. Independent and altruistic collaborator of Ecuadorian cancer patients. In the Business, Sustainability and Innovation category, Nelly Elizalde, Founder of the Gastronomic Group Pearl of the Pacific was awarded; Jorge Mejía, Director of EME Group, a company with more than 25 years in the sector of industrial roofs, textile architecture and R & D projects, and Raíz Ecuador, the gastronomic identity of Ecuador in Spain.
