<h6><strong>Eduardo González</strong></h6> <h4><strong>Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares welcomed this Saturday the release of four more Israeli hostages by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and demanded that “all hostages be released as soon as possible.”</strong></h4> “The release of four more Israeli hostages puts an end to unjust suffering,” Albares said on social media. “All hostages must be released as soon as possible,” he continued. “Massive humanitarian aid must continue to arrive in Gaza to alleviate the humanitarian catastrophe. We continue to work for a permanent ceasefire,” he concluded. Hamas released this Saturday four female soldiers who were kidnapped from their barracks during the massive attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. They are Karina Ariev, Danielle Gilboa, Naama Levy and Liri Albag. Their release is part of the second exchange launched by the two parties following the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas, which included the handover of 200 Palestinian prisoners (fifty for each hostage, as stipulated in the agreement). On January 20, the Spanish government welcomed the entry into force of the ceasefire in Gaza and the release of the first three hostages, “who have been unjustly held hostage for more than 15 months.” The seven freed women are part of a total of 33 hostages who must be released in this initial phase of the ceasefire agreement.
