The European Commission has approved this Tuesday the registration of Menorca Oil as a Protected Geographical Indication. According to the Commission, Menorca Oil is an organic, fruity, medium or intense extra virgin olive oil, which has bitter and spicy flavours on the palate, light to medium.
One of the main characteristics of this oil is its “green” fruitiness, which is determined by the stage in which the olives are harvested, that is, green. The olive harvest begins at the end of September. The presence of the “Oli de Menorca / Aceite de Menorca” oil at local, Spanish and international fairs and exhibitions is further proof of the reputation enjoyed by this product. Menorca Oil joins the list of 3,639 agricultural products already protected.
